Myrne Jeanette Holmen, age 77, of Crosslake, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Myrne was born February 24, 1936, in Comfrey, MN, to Paul and Ada (Cunningham) Current. Myrne graduated from Comfrey High School and married Arlen Holmen on November 26, 1955, and they were married for 49 years before he went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2004. During those years Myrne was a housewife, mother to three children, grandmother, cook, secretary and camp mom. In 1989, upon Arlen's retirement, they moved to Crosslake where they became known to many in the area through the churches they served.
Everyone who met Myrne was touched by her gentle yet playful spirit, unconditional love and kindness.
She is survived by children: Sherri, Julie, Mark (Maria); and granddaughter, Malyn. Her brothers, Richard, Don and Loren preceded her in death.
Myrne had a special place in her heart to see that children who could not afford it could experience a week of Bible camp. A scholarship fund has been established where memorial gifts can be made in her name to First Lutheran Church, PO Box 21, Pine River, MN 56474.
A celebration of Myrne's life will be 2 PM, Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
