Myrna King

December 3, 1942 — November 6, 2008

Myrna L. King, 65, died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at St. Josephs Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. A Memorial Service for Myrna is scheduled for 1 PM, Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, MN with Pastor Joan Gunderman officiating. Friends are welcome to gather Monday evening at the church from 5-7 PM.
Myrna Lorrayne was born December 3, 1942 in Archer, IA, the daughter of Sid and Jennie (Van Heuvelen) Wagenear. She grew up in Archer and graduated from Archer Consolidated School in 1961 before attending Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where she obtained her teaching degree in 1965. Myrna was united in marriage to Kenneth Russell King on July 9, 1965. Myrna taught high school English in Iowa, before the coupled moved to Brainerd, MN in 1976 and purchased the Hidden Paradise Resort, which they operated for 11 years. Later, the couple purchased the Nisswa Motel. Myrna also taught for 15 years at Brainerd Technical College and Brainerd Community College. Myrna and Russ where blessed with two children. Myrna enjoyed gardening, reading, bicycling, concerts, theatre, and spending time with friends. She also loved to dote on her five grandchildren.

Myrna will be deeply missed by her husband of 43 years, Russ; her daughter, Kris (Matt) King- Fenn, of Lakeville, MN; her son, Kurt (Sarah) King, of Garrison, MN; father, Sid Wagenear, of Sheldon, IA; grandchildren, Sydney and Morgan King-Fenn and Nate, Olivia, and Chad King; sister, Marlene Wagenear, of Waterloo, IA; brothers, Robert (Marie) Wagenear, of Middletown, DE and Howard (Vicki) Wagenear, of Alecester, SD; brother-in-law, Steve (Kathy) King, of Tucson, AZ; and sister-in-law, Kandy (Larry) Leege, of Duluth, MN.
