Myrle Kupitz, 88, of Staples, MN died Monday, November 16, 2015 at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples, MN. Funeral services for Myrle will be 11:00AM, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Congregational Church, UCC in Staples, with Pastor Tony Romaine officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Myrle was born August 23, 1927 in Sterum, North Dakota to John and Ruth (Engquist) Kupitz. He grew up on a farm near Oakes, North Dakota. Myrle attended grade school in the country school near Crete, North Dakota and graduated from high school in Oakes, North Dakota. He attended Telegraph School in Jamestown, North Dakota and was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad in Staples in 1946. Myrle was united in marriage to Wilma Jean Covel in 1950. He worked for Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroad for 43 ½ years. Myrle was a member of Congregational Church, Men's Club, Korean War Vet, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and VFW. He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, woodworking, hunting, fishing, going camping, and traveling, but spending time with his family was most important to him.
Myrle is survived by his daughter, Debra Scribner of Sunset Beach, CA,; sons, Douglas (Michelle) Kupitz of Moorhead, MN and James (Lynn) Kupitz of Bessemer, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma Jean; infant daughter, Vicky Jean; brothers Karen and Clyde. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
