Mody Gardiner

Marjorie “Mody” Gardiner, age 99, of Pine River, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at her home. She was born to Ben and Dorothy Kline on October 24, 1921, in Illinois. Mody and her husband, Kenneth, were co-owners of Gardiner Hardware in Pine River for many years. Mody was a volunteer at the Pine River Information Center and was known for her knowledge of the history of her beloved hometown. In 2006 she was awarded Pine River Chamber’s Distinguished Service Award. Mody’s family was very important to her, and she greatly enjoyed socializing with them as well as her many friends.

Mody is survived by her sister, Gertrude “Sis” Risnes; sister-in-law, Jean Kline; nieces and nephews: Sally Osborne, Phil Risnes (Dorothy), Glenda Edgeton (Russ), Dan Risnes (Claudia), Doni Bahr (Don), Nancy Crimmins (Ole), Paula Martin, Joel Kline (Holly), Jay Kline (Jacki), Gary Gardiner (Janice), Julie Moser, Caroline Johnson, Jackie Johnson, Kathy Kater (Lincoln Fetcher); numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives . She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; sister, Rachel Swift; brother, Donald “Bud” Kline; and nephew, Scott Kline.

Mody's family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice and her many wonderful caregivers.

Services will be 4 PM on Sunday, October 17, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River.
