Miriam Carlson, age 87 of Pillager, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the Harmony House in Motley, MN. Services will be Monday, November 5, at 11:30 at the United Methodist Church in Motley. Visitation is Sunday, November 4, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples from 4 to 6 pm and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Miriam was born September 11, 1925, in Kingsville, Ohio, to Frank and Gertrude (Gray) Cameron. She graduated from Motley High School in 1942. Miriam married Franklin Topp on June 1, 1945, and was a homemaker and caregiver. After Franklin's death, she married Les Carlson on February 15, 1980. She enjoyed the farming and traveling with Les until his death in 1999. Miriam was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Adult Sunday School, and the United Methodist Building Committee. She served on the May Township board for 18 years and wrote fire permits for the DNR. She was also in the Rainbow Riders Saddle Club, the Pillager Senior Citizens' Center Board and the REA Coop. She was a good cook and had a passion for canning her homegrown produce in addition to cherishing time with her grandchildren.
Miriam is survived by her son Frank (Lori) Topp of Oshkosh, WI; daughters Sharon (Steve) Sandberg and Miriam (Mike) Rosvold both of Cushing, and Becky (Ted) Sullivan of Pillager; sister Ruth Fuchs of Hermantown, MN; sister-in law Lucille Cameron of Pillager; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Franklin C. Topp, her second husband C. Leslie Carlson, her brother Robert Cameron, her sister Joyce Cameron and her parents.
