Mildred Hoffmann

Mildred Hoffmann, 91, of Brainerd, MN passed way peacefully at Good Samaritan Society - Bethany in Brainerd, MN on Saturday, March 25, 2017. A gathering of family and friends for Mildred will be at 1PM, Friday, March 31, 2017 Good Samaritan Society - Bethany in Brainerd. Interment is at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery.

Mildred was born on April 7, 1925 to Olaf and Bertha (Quamme) Hvamstead in Badger, Minnesota. She was one of nine children that were sent to the state orphanages in Minneapolis and Owatonna after her mother died and her father was unable to provide for them. She left the orphanage at age 15 and found work in Minneapolis at a bakery.

She married Paul H. Hoffmann on January 10, 1950 and lived and raised a family in Roseau, Minnesota. Their children include, Sharon (Bruce) Campbell of Fairview, OR, Paul (Somsri) Hoffmann of Ocean City, WA, Louis (Deborah) Hoffmann of Brainerd, MN, William (Debra) Hoffmann of Gresham, OR, and son Stanley (deceased at age two.)

She and Paul lived in Roseau, Little Falls, Brainerd, and after retirement they traveled often. They enjoyed spending their time camping, fishing, and visiting with old friends from his Army days where ever they happened to be. They loved spending time with their grandchildren (9); great-grandchildren (7); and great-great-grandchildren (2). Paul Hoffman passed away in 1999, Millie has resided in Bethany Good Samarian Home in Brainerd for the past five years. Millie and Paul were life member of the VFW, American Legion, and Cooties.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, all eight brothers and sisters and infant son. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
