Michael "Mike" Quinten Lambert, 56, of Brainerd, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Essentia Health - St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. Family and friends are invited to gather from 4-7 PM, Friday, January 31 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. A Celebration of Mike's life will be held at 9 AM, Saturday, February 1 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel. Mike's family requests you come comfortable and casual.
Mike was born July 6, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Quinten John and Ann Helen (Bednar) Lambert. Mike found his passion early in life. He began his life-long law enforcement career at 15 when he was a Police Explorer. While earning their EMT certifications, Mike met Janice Smith and the couple was married in 1980. He served in Altoona, WI for six years before moving to Brainerd in 1986 and joining the Brainerd Police Department. He was a dedicated member of the community; involved in Kiwanis, MADD - Victims Impact Panel, and a youth softball coach. Mike was also a strong supporter of the Special Olympics and braved the polar plunge for eight years. Motorcycling became another passion for Mike. He was president of the police club, Blue Knights. And he and Jan looked forward to moving to Tennessee where they could ride 9 months a year and Mike could continue to work on his cooking and smoking skills.
He will be missed by many. Mike is survived by his wife, Jan; mother, Ann, of Brainerd; daughters, Samantha (Jersey Escalona), of East Bethel and Jacquelyn (Zane Wallace), of Blue Springs, MO; siblings, John (Bonnie), Pat (Candy), and Sue Lambert; grandchildren, Addison Alicia Wallace, Keona Grace Escalona, and Kiera Jade Escalona; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alicia Marie Smith - Lambert; father, Quinten; and mother-in-law, Marion Smith.
