Michael Gendron

Michael Gendron, age 83, of Baxter, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Golden Living Center in Olivia. Private family services will be at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery.

Michael Jules Gendron was born September 19, 1933 in St. Paul, to Bertrand and Evelyn (Oehrlein) Gendron. He grew up and attended school in Brainerd. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the US Army, and served proudly during the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life, Leanne Kemp on August 2, 1993. Michael owned and operated Gendron’s Black Dirt for more than 25 years. He was a former member of the Brainerd American Legion, the VFW, and the Eagle’s Club. He loved boating, fishing, and hunting. Michael and Leanne enjoyed music and theater, and attended many productions.

Michael is survived by Leanne, his wife of 23 years; his stepson, Dr. Jon R. (Sue) Kemp, of Spicer; two sisters, Lael (Larry) O’Brien, of Plymouth, Massachusets and Sandra Delman, of La Canada, California; a niece, Colleen (Jeff) White; four nephews, Mark (Kim) O’Brien, Kelly (Kathy) O’Brien, Michael (Mary) O’Brien, and Brett (Amy) O’Brien; and his beloved friend and caregiver, Susan Bretz. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service.
