Merle Lloyd Mathison, 91, of Pequot Lakes, MN died on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at The Heritage House in Pequot Lakes, MN. Funeral Services for Merle will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta, MN with Pastor Dell Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Frog Lake Cemetery in Alberta, MN. A luncheon will then follow at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Merle was born on April 16, 1924 in Alberta, MN to Thore and Emma (Erickson) Mathison. He graduated from Alberta High School. He was united into marriage to Ielene Flannigan. Merle owned and operated Alberta Truck Service from 1947-1957. The family then moved to rural Pequot Lakes, MN where he was a dairy farmer. Merle enjoyed snowmobiling, being on a pool league, and in his later years building rustic furniture for local craft shows.
Merle is survived by his children, Cindy (John) Terwilliger of Lake Shore, MN and Susan (Mark) Mathison-Young of Lake Shore, MN; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Raasch; and brother, Delroy Mathison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thore and Emma; infant son, Myron Lee Mathison, daughter, Sandra Kay Hamilton; and brothers, Harvey and Glen. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes, MN.
