Mayme Schimpp, age 100 years of Staples died Tuesday afternoon, January 8, 2008 at Lakewood Health System Hospital. Funeral service will be on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Thomastown Covenant Church at 4pm with Pastor Dave Harlow and Pastor Roger Anderson officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday afternoon from 4:30 to 7:30 at the Thomastown Covenant Church. Interment will be in the Thomastown Covenant Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Home of Staples. Mayme Schimpp was born February 14, 1907 to Andrew and Nina (Torgerson) Holman in Wadena County. She grew up working the family sawmill with her family and siblings. She was united in marriage to Andrew Schimpp on December 24, 1927 in Wadena. She lived and raised her family and farmed in Thomastown Township with her husband until their retirement in 1974 at which time they moved into Staples. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, gardening, cooking, and supporting missionaries. Mayme is survived by her children; Byron (Mary) of Ypsilanti, MI, Russ (Jackie), Staples, MN, Gary (Carmen), Staples, Judy (John) Todd of Eagan, MN, Joyce (Roger) Anderson, Isanti, MN, Barb (Larry) Rach, Verndale, MN David (Jocelyn), Remer, MN; daughter-in-law, Ardis Schimpp; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 6 nephews; 8 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew; son, Donovan; granddaughter, Debbie Bernstrom; twelve brothers and sisters.
