Maybelle Cory

Maybelle Marie Cory, 85, of Leader, passed away at her home Thursday, November 22. Services are at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 26 at the Kingdom Hall in Jenkins. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3-5 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples and one hour prior to the service at the Kingdom Hall. Burial will be in the Poplar Cemetery.

She was born May 4, 1927 in McKinley Township to the late Harvey and Mary Jane (Matthews) Dumpprope. She attended the Poplar school and graduated from the 8th grade. On February 3rd of 1944 she married Donald Cory in Staples, MN. Aside from working on the farm she also worked various jobs. In the early 70's Maybelle and Don moved their family to Anoka where Don took a job with the school district, and upon retiring moved back to the Leader area. Where she enjoyed her flowers, animals, kids & grandkids and was very well known for her pies.

Maybelle is survived by her loving children, Jerry (Penny) Cory, of Staples; Keith "George" (Sandy) Cory, of Leader; Jayne (Dennis) Hanson, of Verndale; Marlys (Ted) Utz, of Staples; and Lola (Mark) Peterson-Lind, of Staples. She is also survived by many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great, great-grandchildren; sisters, June, Velma, Evon and Joyce. Along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents, son, David; grandson, Joseph Utz; and by 5 brothers.
