Max Maas, age 69, of Crosslake, MN died on Monday, July 10, 2001, at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Funeral services will be at the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, July 14, at 10:30 AM, with Reverend Jeffrey Jensen officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, from 7 ? 8 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, and ½ hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in the Pinewood Cemetery of Crosslake. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements are by the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
Max Edwards Maas was born on November 27, 1931 in Massena, Iowa, to Glenn D. and Ruth M. (Johnson) Maas. He grew up and attended school in Massena. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served as a gunner during the Korean conflict. He began his career by farming with his father. He went on to become the manager of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Creston, IA. In 1967 he joined the Cornelius Co. in Anoka, where he became Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He was married to his wife Judy on May 27, 1978, at the Little Brown Church in Hampton, IA. The couple lived and worked in Anoka, and vacationed in Crosslake. In 1986 they started Molecular Repair Concepts, and they moved the business and their family home to Crosslake in 1990. Max enjoyed being involved in the community and was a member of the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church. He is most remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Max Maas is survived by his wife Judy; 3 sons, Todd Maas of Grimes, IA, Scott (Jean) Maas of Crosslake, and John Maas of Inver Grove Heights; 5 grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer, and Chandra Maas and Ashley and Spencer Maas; his mother, Ruth Maas of Massena, IA, a brother Gary (Judy) Maas of Massena, IA, and other special family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Maas.
