Maurice Gard

Maurice James Gard, 76, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017. He was born to Harold and Luella (White) Gard on November 4, 1941. Maurice married Joan Forcier on October 26, 1990.

Maurice worked for Land O Lakes Creamery for several years hauling milk and for Christensen Forest Products in Pine River. In his younger years he loved to hunt and trap. He also loved to play cards, especially cribbage.

Maurice is preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and a stepson. He is survived by two grandsons; step daughter, Fawn Forcier; brothers, Ronald (Carol) Gard of Pine River, Duane Gard of Pine River, John Gard of Pine River, Jack (Pat) Gard of Brainerd; three sisters, Fidelia Rubitschung of Pine River, Peggy Doust of Brainerd and Donna (Al) Abear of Backus; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Pequot Lakes Baptist Church, Pequot Lakes, with Pastor Mike Marcum officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be in Swanburg Cemetery at a later date.
