The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou Hoemberg, a resident of Lakewood Manor Assisted Living in Staples, and formerly of Harmony House in Motley and rural Staples, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Family and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
Mary Lou Hoemberg, died of Congestive Heart Failure on November 20, 2021. She was born to John and Mary (Freund) Hoemberg on October 30, 1935. She completed 8th grade at the Sacred Heart school in Staples and continued on to beauty school. She ended her education at that time to work on the family farm and was a housecleaner for many families in the Staples area. She enjoyed cross-stitching, rug hooking, gardening, playing cards, Bingo, baking, and socializing while enjoying her coffee. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hoemberg; brothers: Matt (Pearl), Bernard “Bud”, Edwin, Leon and baby brother Anthony; sisters: Josephine Olinger, Frances (Vernon) Peterson, Rose King, and Delores (Harold) Hensel.
Mary Lou is survived by her brother Lloyd; sister-in-law’s Geneva Hoemberg and Delona Hoemberg and Essential Caregiver – niece Virginia Olson; and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
