Mary Schneider

March 31, 1921 — November 1, 2011

Mary Schneider, 90, of Crosslake peacefully passed away on Monday, November 1, 2011 at Good Samaritan Village- Bethany in Brainerd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crosslake, MN with Father Ryan Moravitz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Private Interment will be at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake.

Mary was born on March 31, 1921 to Martin and Mary (Benicik) Zatlovkai in Czechoslavkia. Mary's journey to Crosslake began across the seas on a different continent. She grew up in Czechoslovakia until she left at age seven to come to America. She married James Schneider in 1941. They lived in Algora, Iowa until 1966 when they bought a resort in Crosslake and operated it as "Schneider Modern Bungalows." In 1969 Jim died from cancer and she operated the resort for another three years. She was one of the first volunteers on the Crosslake Ambulance. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, fishing, and the Minnesota Twins, but most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children, Sharon Reed and Bob Schneider; grandchildren, Marty Reed and Jamie Reed; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Nicholos, Jaegar, and Brett Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Mary; husband, James.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Crosslake, building fund.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
