Mary Kephart

Mary Edith A. Kephart, age 86, of Staples, passed away Thursday morning, September 2, 2010, at the Lakewood Health System Hospital. According to her wishes no services will be held. She will be interred with her husband in Evergreen Hill Cemetery at Staples, MN.

Mary Edith Arlene Kephart was born May 4, 1924, in Staples, MN, the daughter of William and Enid (Hand) Mapes. She grew up and attended school in Pillager,MN. On January 27, 1942, she was united in marriage to Elihu Kephart. They farmed in the Staples/ Motley area until his death on October 23, 1977. Mary Edith then moved into Staples and for the past 3 years has been a resident of the Lakewood Care Center. Among the things she enjoyed were crocheting, sewing, embroidering, and other hand work. She also had an ear ring collection of 5000 pair. Although her pride and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary Edith was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Enid; her husband of 35 years, Elihu; infant daughter, Judy; daughter-in-law, Billy Jo Kephart; brother, Marvin Mapes; and sister, Violet Mertens. Mary Edith will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Priscilla (Ken) Jeziorski of Greybull, WY, Beverly Wilkinson of Rogers, MN, and Kenneth Kephart of Bemidji, MN; 8 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; nieces, Gloria Perfeti and Karen Williams; and special friend, Nancy Lynn Johnson.
