Mary Ruth Garcia, 78, of Mora, formerly of St. Paul, MN, died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at her home in Mora. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe (401 Concord Street, St. Paul). A luncheon will follow Mass.
Mary was born May 10, 1936, in Fairfax, MN, the daughter of Isabel and Rita (Bueno) Sanchez. Mary had a large family - 5 sisters and 8 brothers. Mary was a very active woman and worked a number of jobs she enjoyed: seamstress and a longtime employee of Sperry Univac. In 1960, she married Timothy Garcia. The couple raised their family in the St. Paul area. Mary was also willing to lend a hand and raised many nieces, nephews and cousins in addition to her children. She was an artist and enjoyed teaching others how to sew or do pottery. She had a garden and love to cook - a skill she passed on to her children. She liked to fish, but above all Mary loved garage sales. She couldn't pass them up.
Mary will be missed by her partner for 55 years, Timothy; her children, Rudy, Andrew, Theresa, Timothy (Guadalupe), Jose, Carlos, and Marchae; five sisters and six brothers; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
