Mary VirginiaDay, 80, died December 21, 2007 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 26, 11 am, at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Friends may visit at the church during the hour prior to services. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
Mary VirginiaMethod was born October 20, 2007 in Duluth, to Joseph and Edith (Erickson) Method. She was united in marriage to William E. Day in Duluth on July 10, 1948. She was widowed when Bill passed away in 2001. Besides caring for her family Virginias adult life centered around food preparation and service. She was a cook at the community college in Brainerd for more than 25 years; she owned and operated Lous Dairy Way for 10 years; and her family owned and operated the Blue Ribbon Food Stand at the Crow Wing County Fair. Virginia baked every day, giving her baked goods to family and friends. Despite the fact that she had been on kidney dialysis for the past 18 years she continued to cook and bake for her family, right until the week of her death.
Virginia is survived by her children, Kenn (Mary) Day, Baxter and Bonnie Rude, of Brainerd; grandchildren, Brian, Tim, and Gregg Day, Kelsie and Mindy Rude, and Riley Northcott; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Alyssa Abbott and Joey Dropps, Jr.; and her stepmother, Marie Method, St. Paul. She was preceded by her parents, Joseph and Edith(Erickson) Method; her husband, William Day; and a brother, Vince Method.
