Marvin Pearson, 88, of Twin Valley, MN, formerly of Motley, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by family Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Twin Valley Living Center. Services for Marvin will be 11:00AM, Monday, October 2, 2017 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services for visitation. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN.
Marvin was born June 7, 1929 in Glover, ND to Sven and Gladys (Cooper) Pearson. He grew up in the Henning, MN area. Marvin served in the US Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged. He was united in marriage to Betty Thornton June 9, 1952 in Milner, ND. They owned and operated a custom meat processing plant called Marv’s Lockers in Nashua, MN. Later, they moved to Motley where Marv worked for Gold’s Turkey Farm. Marv was a proud member of the Army Chapter of the Chosin Few and a longtime member of the VFW in Tintah, MN and Motley Post #124, where he served as Commander. He enjoyed deer hunting, going to auctions and flea markets. Marv especially loved spending time on his hunting land- the “80”.
Marvin is survived by his children, Craig (Margie) of Hot Springs, SD, Joel of Twin Valley, MN, Fabia (Danny) Mohn of Yuma, AZ, Colt (Teresa) of Breckenridge, MN; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Clayton Pearson of IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sven and Gladys; wife, Betty; two sisters, and five brothers. Services have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
