Marvin Gehrls

Marvin A. Gehrls, 94, passed away August 19, 2018 at Harmony House in Brainerd, MN. Services for Marvin are scheduled for 1:00PM on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Lakewood Free Church in Baxter. Burial at the Baxter City Cemetery.

Marvin was born on September 12, 1923 in Elysian, MN to Albert and Lillian (Mundt) Gehrls. As a youth he attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okabena, MN. Marvin was united in marriage to Wilma Holter on July 14, 1946. The couple moved to Brainerd in 1973. Marvin worked with the humanitarian aid organization World Vision International. He was also a missionary in Kentucky, Texas, and Mexico for several years. Marvin owned and operated M&W Services for 50 years. He hosted many Bible studies at his home and at the nursing homes. Marvin loved reading, spending time with his family, and visiting with friends.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 72 years, Wilma; children, David (Sheryl) Omaha, NE, Tim (Karen) of Baxter, MN, Jon (Phyllis) of Baxter, MN, Dan (Mary Lee) of St. Cloud, MN, and Lily (Kevin) Bates of Ovid, MI; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ione Gehrls. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lillian; and brother, Merlyn. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
