Marvin Feakes

Marvin W. Feakes, 84, of Motley, MN passed away on January 3, 2023 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, with his family by his side. Visitation will be Friday January 20^th from 4 – 6 pm at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples, with a prayer service at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday January 21^st at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Motley Public Cemetery.

Marvin was born in Northport Washington on July 12, 1938, to Bert and Jensine (Pedersen) Feakes. He graduated from High school in 1956, and joined the United States Army.  He left for Fort Chaffe AK and basic training in February of 1957, eventually heading for Korea. He was discharged from active duty in 1958 but was a Reserve until Feb. of 1963.

Marvin united in marriage to Janet Lorber on May 7, 1960 in Motley MN. Marvin worked for Northwestern Bell in Williston and Fessenden ND. He was involved with the Fessenden Fire Dept. and the Fessenden Ambulance Squad. He then became a regional manager and Marv and Jan moved their family to Harvey, ND. Here Marvin was involved in the VFW, Eagles, and Knights of Columbus originations, along with the Harvey Fire Department and Ambulance. He retired from Ma Bell in 1986 and started farming with his son Dave. Marv and Jan moved back to Motley, MN in 1995.

Marvin enjoyed fishing, and trips to Canada. He loved horses and was known as the neighborhood “fix it guy”. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Marvin is survived by his children; Marvin Jr. of Watford City, North Dakota, Dave (Patty) of Fessenden, ND, Michael (Amy) of Rochester, MN, Paul of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brother, Bert Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Jensine; wife Janet; son John; brother Bill; and his mother and father- in-law Earl and Alice Lorber.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
