Martha Wicht, 99, of Motley died on Tuesday, February 12, 2014 surrounded by her family at the Harmony House in Motley, MN. Services for Martha will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Randall with Pastor Fred Kutter officiating and visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Martha was born on February 24, 1914 on a farm in Dewey County in South Dakota to Emanuel and Christina (Fischer) Singer. She came to Wadena, MN at a young age and began working for a grocery store. She married Allie Wicht on February 8, 1945 in Wadena, MN. Together they operated a grocery store in Wadena for many years. Martha and Allie had a baby girl, named Shelba in 1947. Martha loved to cook, dance, and entertain her family and friends. She also loved to travel, crochet, garden, and canning. Martha was involved in the Ladies Aid.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Shelba (Gerald) Greenwaldt of Randall, MN; brother, Arthur Singer; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allie; brothers, John, Adolph, and Albert; and sister, Emma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall, MN.
