Marlys Naomi Silbaugh, age 67, of New Hope, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 from complications of ALS. She was preceded in death by father Harvey; mother, Clara; brother, Vern; and sisters, Kristeen and Edee. Marlys is survived by husband, Walt "Reggie"; son, Shane; daughter, Meridee; brother, Bob; sister, Joyce; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Marlys' life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Kline Funeral Home Pine River. Visitation will start one hour prior to service.

Marlys was a graduate of McIntosh High School, received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Concordia College of Moorhead and received her Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota. Following graduation from Concordia, Marlys taught high school physical education in Pine River where she met her husband, Reggie. She was extremely active with extra curricular activities coaching basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, track and served as cheerleader advisor. She and Reggie were married in 1975 and moved to New Hope. She substituted in various school districts and coached Fridley's girls basketball for several years before deciding to stay home with her children. In 1990 she returned to teaching in Robbinsdale School District 281. She taught physical education at TLC, later known as Robbinsdale Middle School, and health at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School before retiring in 2013.
