Marlys Marie Hollister was born on September 26, 1909, in Staples, MN, the daughter of Ray and Cecil (Edwards) France. She grew up on the family farm near Staples and attended country school there. After her schooling she married Francis Moravec. To this union 3 children, Luella, Dennis and Lois were born. The family lived in the Bagley and Shevlin area for over 20 years. Marlys then married Juel Lambert and to this union one daughter, Sandra was born. They made their home in Bemidji. Later she married Joseph Hollister and the couple settled in Staples. For the past 4 years Marlys has been a resident of Lakewood Care Center.
Marlys enjoyed being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved to sew, especially quilts, bake, cook, can, and she also loved to dance. She enjoyed being with people, her home was always open to family and friends and the coffee pot was always on.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Cecil; her husbands; a grandson, Jim Olson; 3 sisters, May, Alice, and Evangeline; and a brother, Frank. Marlys is mourned in passing by her children, Luella (Charles) Heilman of Coon Rapids, Dennis (Opal) Moravec of Bemidji, Lois (Glenn) Olson of Princeton, and Sandra Luoma of Staples; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchild; and a sister, Leona Hollister of Staples.
