Mark Hirschey, the Anderson W. Chandler Professor of Business at the University of Kansas, died Sunday at his cabin on Lower Cullen Lake after a yearlong battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma. He was 58.
Author of more than 90 academic research articles, scholarly books and scholarly textbooks, Professor Hirschey had an international reputation for his research leadership and accomplishments at the interface of finance, managerial economics, and accounting.
He is survived by his wife Christine, son Nicholas, daughters Jessica and Sarah, father Ken, and siblings Walt, Anne, Mary, David, Bill, Jeanne, Steve, Paul, Ellen, John, and Lisa. He is preceded in death by his mother Betty.
Services will be 11 AM on Friday, July 23, at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, Nisswa, with Father George Zeck officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM with prayer service at 7, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes.
