Marjorie A. Pohl, 94, of Lakeshore, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at her home. She was born to Swen and Minnie (Pufpaff) Bengtson in Homebrook Township, MN, on July 27, 1921. Marjorie attended Pine River High School but graduated from Pequot Lakes High School, class of 1939. She furthered her education and attended Normal Training School, to become a teacher and taught briefly in one room Portview School.
Marjorie was united in marriage to Harold Pohl in January of 1941. She farmed in Lakeshore Township until her husband, Harold's death in 1974 and has remained on the farm. She worked at Lost Lake Lodge, as a cook at Bar Harbor and at Home Base Restaurant. Marjorie loved to crochet blankets and knit mittens for kids and embroider dish towels. She loved to visit with people and feed them, especially, her homemade cookies. She was formerly a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. Marjorie is a member of Living Savior Lutheran Church in Lakeshore. She was the former clerk/treasurer of Lakeshore Village. Family and faith has always been her main focus.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Carol Ahlstrand of Ruskin, FL and Clear Lake, MN; son, David (Kim) Pohl of Lakeshore; grandson, Cory (Janelle) Belden; granddaughters, Kari (Josh Larsen) Omlie and Tracy Omlie; great granddaughter, Megan Belden; great grandson, Jordan Belden; and son-in-law, Barry Belden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Pohl; daughter, Janice Belden; son-in-law, (Carol's husband) Perry Ahlstrand; and brother, William Bengtson.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice, especially, nurse Mary for their special care.
Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, December 19, at Living Savior Lutheran Church, Lakeshore, with Rev. Dr. Richard J.M. Hans officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Gloria Dei Stoney Brook Cemetery, rural Pequot Lakes.
