Marion Stone

Marion F. Stone, age 93, of New Brighton, formerly of Staples, died Monday morning, June 6, 2005. Funeral services will be Friday, June 10, at 1:00 in the United Methodist Church in Staples, with Rev. Wesley Johnson officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday evening 5 ? 8 at Brenny Funeral Home, Staples. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Home, Staples, MN.
Marion F. Stone was born May 5, 1911 in Staples, to the late Frank and Esther (Monson) McGivern. She attended school in Staples graduating with the class of 1927 and going on to St Cloud State getting a degree in teaching. She taught in the Crosby-Ironton school district until she was united in marriage to Wendell E. Stone in 1936. She later taught for 15 years in the Staples Elementary School and also as a music instructor. Marion was a life long member of the Staples United Methodist Church where she served as organist for more than 50 years. She was a 50 year member of the Orchid Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was the organist for several years. She was a charter member and past president of the Staples Lioness Club. In 1982 she resigned from the Staples City Library board after a term of 44 years.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Wendy (David) Magnuson, Mary (Neil) Krogh, 4 Grandchildren; Ann (Christopher) Whiting, David Krogh, Steven (Shannon) Magnuson, Wendy (Christopher) Sommers, 3 Great grandchildren; Charles Whiting, Grace Whiting, Cooper Magnuson, 2 sisters; Elizabeth Anfinson of Winona, Patricia Amundson of Blue Earth, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson Eric.
