Marilyn Tressa Sims, 76, of Baxter, passed away Saturday, January 10 at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd.
She was born January 14, 1927 in Staples to Willbert and Martha (Peterson) Bruggman. She attended schools in Staples and McGregor and graduated from Brainerd High School in 1945. She married Rodney Sims in 1947. She took nurses training and was a LPN. She also completed American Medical Records Association training. She worked at Brainerd Regional Human Service Center for 23 years; the last 15 years as a medical records technician. She retired in 1988. She was a charter member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter, a member of the Sarah Circle, a member of NARVRE, a member of the Heartland Seniors. She was also a member of MRSEA and AFSCME.
Marilyn is survived by two sons, Charles, of Rapid City, SD and Donald, of Hanover; a daughter, Carol, of Baxter; six grandchildren; a sister Clarice Hemkin, of Brainerd; a brother, William Bruggman, of Newell, SD. Her husband Rodney; son Michael; and her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 17 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter, with Reverend Darrell Pederson and Reverend Jennifer Wilson officiating. Friends may visit Friday, January 16, from 6-8 PM at Brenny Funral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will be at Baxter City Cemetery.
