Marilyn (Hiller) Goatley, 76, of Aitkin, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Country Manor in Sartell. A gathering of family and friends celebrating Marily’s life will be held 3-5:00 PM Friday, December 13, 2019 at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Marilyn was born in Minneapolis on May 5, 1943 to Donald and Lillian (Rice) Hiller. She graduated from Anoka High School in 1961, and went on to graduate from Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. Marilyn married Jim Goatley on April 10, 1970 in Winnabago, IA. She worked for Des Moines Public Schools as a teacher for 25 years. Marilyn and Jim moved to Mille Lacs Lake in 1995, where she worked at Grand Casino for 20 years. She loved cooking, taking fishing trips, and traveling. Marilyn also belonged to the Garrison Commercial Club. Marilyn will be dearly missed by her loving family.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Jim; daughter Melissa of Iowa City, IA; sister Sandra Davis; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Doug Hiller; sisters, Bev Griepp, Shirley Scherz.
