Marie Goff

Marie Irene Goff, 88, of Brainerd, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Central Minnesota Senior Care in Brainerd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at NOON, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Joe Korf officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at Evergreen Hill Cemetery.

Marie was born April 8, 1929, in Wadena, the daughter of William and Mary (Heffernon) Plautz. She graduated from Wadena High School. In 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert Oldenburg. He passed away in 1963 and three years later she married Darwin Goff. He passed away in 2000. Marie worked as a seamstress.

Marie was a kind, compassion and truly caring person. She never complained – even when she had to enact her survival skills, which were many. She liked to sew and was a great seamstress. She enjoyed birds, plants, flowers, and ceramics. She was a faithful woman who held close her religious beliefs. Most of all, she was devoted to her children and family.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Baier, of Baxter, Gerald Oldenburg, Pillager and Susan Thelen, of West Richland, WA; sister, Doc McDonald; grandchildren, Jacque, Curtis, Jr., Jana, Lindsey, and Megan; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, four brothers, Louis, John, Charles, and James; and two sisters, Dolly and Mary Ann.
