Marian Scheper

February 15, 1926 — September 18, 2010

Marian (Smith Lenk) Scheper, age 84, of Motley, passed away at the Lakewood Health System on Saturday, September 18, with her devoted loving husband of 33 years by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Friday, September 24, 2010, at 11:00 AM at St. Michaels' Catholic Church in Motley, with Father Scott Wittkop officiating. A visitation is planned for Thursday evening at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples from 5 - 7 pm, with vigil prayers at 6:30 pm.

Marian Smith was born in Philbrook on February 15, 1926, to John B. and Mary (Macho) Smith.

Marian was married to Louis Lenk on February 16, 1942, and they had 9 children together. Marian devoted her life to being a mother and farm wife. Marian was very proud to have 3 daughters (Elaine, Diane and Kathryn Lenk), who all were Homecoming Queens at Staples High School.

After a divorce, Marian married August Scheper on September 26, 1977. Marian held a variety of jobs over the years, being a foster grandmother, working at Maddens, HW Carter Ringer, and a Home Health Aide. Marian enjoyed traveling over the United States driving semi truck along side her husband Auggie. Marian's hobbies were - cooking, quilting, gardening, playing the guitar and Bingo. Marian was a member of St. Michael's Church in Motley and Christian Mothers.

Marian was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Lenk; parents, John B. and Mary Smith; brother, William E. Smith; daughter, Diane Lenk Rice; granddaughter, Leanne Ferrian; and great grandson, Izaak Villeneuve-Soule.

Marian is survived by her husband, August Scheper of Motley; eight children:
Elaine (Gordon) Hanson of Fort Collins, Colorado; Eugene (Janice) Lenk of Browerville, Minnesota; Kathryn (Robert) Carruth of Stuart, Florida;
William (Mary) Lenk of Sammamish, Washington; Patricia (James) Soule of Staples, Minnesota; Debra Lenk (Bob Hames) Missoula, Montana;
Brian (Brenda) Lenk of Pillager, Minnesota; Lisa (David) Ferrian of Brainerd, Minnesota; stepson, David Scheper of North Branch, Minnesota; sister, Lorraine (Raymond) Buhl of St.Paul, Minnesota; brother, Lawerence (Iona) Smith of Philbrook, Minnesota; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and her favorite cats, Midnight and Boogey.

Interment will be at St. James Cemetery in Philbrook, Minnesota.
