Margie Schmalz McArtor, age 90, of Motley, passed away at the Elim Home in Milaca on Sunday, September 28, 2008. Margie was born in Westbrook, MN on November 14, 1917. Her grandparents came to the United States from Brandenberg, Germany, in 1883, settling in Westbrook, MN. In 1934Margie met and married Wayne McArtor, blessing their union with four children in their 62 years together. James McArtor (wife Nancy) of Cody Wyoming, Joyce Klanderud (husband Jack) of Milaca, MN; LeAnn Beach (husband Jerry) of St. Francis, MN; and Lynnette Davis (husband Larry) of Sherman, Texas. She was blessed wit 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. Margie was a wonderful wife and mother. She worked as a welder during the Second World War, taught Sunday school many years and owned her own business in Osseo, MN. Three times she was invited to the Governors home and presented with awards for her participation in the cancer drive. She loved to sew, cook, garden, and entertain both family and friends. Those who proceed her in death are her husband, Wayne; parents August and Mada Schmalz; brother Harvey, and brother Ervin. Margie will be missed by her immediate family and sister Lyla Holmberg of Motley, MN. Her work on earth is now done and she has gone to be with her husband and the Lord. Services will be Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Casino Assembly of God Church of Pillager, MN, with Reverend Dan Johnson at 11:00am. Burial will be at the Motley Public Cemetery.
