Margaret Holden

Margaret Holden, age 100, of Backus, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. She was born to Elmer and Antonette Tibbets on September 3, 1909, in McKinley Township, rural Backus. Margaret grew up in McKinley Township and attended country schools there. She married Roy Holden in 1928. She was a member of the Deerfield Ladies Aid and enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Margaret is survived by her son, Loren Holden (Vicki) of Backus, and sister, Francis Eliason of Deer River, 13 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy, daughter, Verona Vredenburg, son, Marvin Holden, daughter-in-law, Noel Holden, son-in-law, Richard Vredenburg, and brothers, Frank, Cliff and Ted Tibbets.

Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, August 7, at the Church of the Nazarene in Backus, with Pastor John Rister officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Backus. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
