Margaret Flier

Margaret Flier, age 72, of Backus, MN, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 2, 2008, at the Goodland Presbyterian Church in Goodland, MN, with Pastor Broom officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday at the church in Goodland and also for one hour prior to services on Monday. A private family interment will be at a later date.
Margaret Rose Flier was born on November 9, 1935, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann (Tremblet) Barry. She grew up and attended school in Corner Brook, NFLD. On November 14, 1953 she was united in marriage to Richard Flier. She lived in the Goodland, MN, area for 31 years, she then moved to Backus, MN, where she lived for the next 20 years. 4 months ago she moved Avon, MN, to live with Karen, her daughter and son-in-law because of her health. Among the things she enjoyed were gardening, birds, word find puzzles, and people. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her children, Cheryl (John) Gangl of Nashwauk, MN, Cindy (Ken) Kleinschmidt of Little Falls, MN, Rick (June) Flier of Aitkin, MN, Karl (Karen) Flier of Backus, MN, Karen (James) Calgaro, of Avon, MN, and Randy (Donna) Flier of Aitkin, MN; 20 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Patrick Barry of Corner Brook, NFLD, Winnifred (Robert) Holmes of Ottawa, Ontario, Josephine (Wilmore) Howell of Corner Brook, NFLD, and Robert (Rita) Barry of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Ann; a brother, Thomas Barry; and a grandson, Aaron Gangl.
