Marcine Jaschke

Marcine Marie (Turchin) Jaschke was born on December 5, 1935 on the Turchin farm near Brandon, MN to the late Nickodemus (Nick) and Frances (Ledermann) Turchin. Her beloved “Mama” passed away when Marcine was just three weeks old. At the age of two, Anna Turchin became her mother. She attended country school before attending Brandon High School where she graduated with the Class of 1953. Since the age of five she knew she had a calling to become a nurse and in 1956, proudly graduated from St. Gabriel’s School of Nursing in Little Falls, MN. As a registered nurse she cared for the tiniest of newborns to those nearly a century old. Marcine was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ernest Edward Jaschke, just over 60 years ago on May 27, 1958 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, MN. Marcine and Ernest, along with their 11 children, farmed southwest of Randall in Parker Township for nearly 40 years. Marcine was an active member of St. James Catholic Church where she had served as president of Christian Mothers, a faith formation teacher and a member of the parish council. She shared her knowledge as a science aide and para-professional at Dr. S. G. Knight Elementary School in Randall and at Little Falls Community Middle School. Marcine always generously gave of her time and talents volunteering countless years at church, 4-H, her children’s schools and at St. Otto’s Care Center.

Her passion for her faith and helping others in time of need or ill health touched more than 700 people across the world through her Prayer Blanket ministry. Marcine’s love for baking, gardening, canning, birds, nature and reading were unmatched only by her love of spending time with family and friends including her 24 grandchildren. She was a life-long learner that shared her love of books and knowledge with all who surrounded her. Marcine was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Marcine is survived by her children; John (Kathy) of St. Paul; Stephen (Karen) of St. Cloud; Thomas (Jody) of Boulder, CO; Mary (Robert) Reinke of Waukesha, WI; Donald (Michelle) of Bemidji; Ann (Steven) Mueller of Maple Lake; Jeanne (Glen) Pugh of Pierz; Leo (Kathy) of Westminster, CO; Laura (Ryan) VanDenheuvel of Princeton; Jeffrey (Rachel) of Sauk Rapids; Gregory (Naomi) of Richland, WA; twenty-four grandchildren; Emma and Karl Jaschke; Mitchell and Madison Jaschke; Mikah and Zariah Jaschke; Michael, Kaitlyn and Johnathan Reinke; Gavin, Evelyn Elise, and Adeline Louisa Jaschke; Olivia Mueller; Travis, Justin, Evan, and Isaac Pugh; Andrew and Nathan Jaschke; Mark and Anna VanDenheuvel; Ellen, Vivian, and Sophia Jaschke; and sister-in-law, Beulah Jaschke of Cushing, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; brother, Walther Turchin; and granddaughter, Maranda Jaschke.

Marcine Marie Jaschke, 82, of Randall, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 8 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall. Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday evening at the church from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to Mass on Friday. Interment will take place at the Parish Cemetery.
