Marcelo Jose

Marcelo Francisco Jose, 92, of Motley, MN, died on Monday, September 4, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with a one hour visitation prior.

Marcelo was born on November 2, 1924 in Olongapo City, Philippines to Esteban and Florencia(Fredeluces) Jose . He was raised and educated in Manila, until his father’s death when he was 10 and the family moved back to Olongapo City. Marcelo served in the Philippine Scouts alongside US Troops during WWII.

On February 26th, 1947 he was united in marriage to Hipolita Pinales in Davao City, Philippines. They lived in Olongapo where Marcelo worked as a cook at the US Navy Base in the Philippines until he retired in the mid 1980s. In 1991 they moved to Singapore, then to San Francisco from 1992 through 1995, 1995 – 1997 was spent in Virginia, and from 1998 to 2011 they lived in Sauk Rapids until moving to Leader, MN.

Those left to honor Marcelo’s memory are his children, Edward Jose of Olongapo City, Philippines, Candie Rittenhouse of rural Motley, MN, Arsenio Jose of rural Motley, MN and Steve Jose of Olongapo City, Philippines; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Leonila Jose of Olongapo City, Philippines, Priscilla Wright of Hayward, CA, Pilar Jose of Olongapo City, Phillippines. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hipolita in 2014, and his son Roberto. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
