Manola, F. Tanner, age 87, of Motley, passed away at the Lakewood Care Center on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. A memorial service will be held for Manola at the First Baptist Church in Pillager on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 3:00PM. She will be buried with her husband in Washington State.
Manola was born on November 19, 1924, to James Christopher and Louella Swaggerty, in Chattanooga, TN. She grew up playing the piano, went to Chattanooga School of Music and also attended business school. On April 19, 1942, she married Willard R.Tanner. Soon after, he was drafted into the military for WW1. After returning from the Army, Willard felt the call to the clergy, becoming a pastor in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) and later in the Assembly of God organization. The driving force force for Manola 's life was her great love for Jesus Christ. She served alongside in her husband's ministry, serving in California, Idaho, North Dakota, Wyoming, Washington, and Arizona. Manola was a great cook, she loved music, playing the piano, sewing, and spending time with her family.
Manola is survived by her children, Allora (Charles) Cantleberry of Motley, MN, Will (Fran) of Federal Way, WA, Linwood (Belinda) of Cashmere, WA, and Steve (Linda) of Lacey, WA; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; son-in-law, Terry Beard; grandson, David Beard; and 13 brothers and sisters.
