Mae Schrankel

Mae E. Schrankel, 86, of Pillager, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd, MN. Services for Mae will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 15 at the First Lutheran Church in Pillager. There will be a visitation Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will follow services at Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager.
Mae was born May 4, 1921, in Bowesmont, ND, the daughter of Steener and Laura (Quanrude) Steenerson. At an early age, Mae moved with her parents to Grand Forks where she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Charles RoySchrankel on September 16, 1939 in St. Paul, MN. The couple lived in the metro area where Mae was a homemaker. In 1972, they moved to Sylvan Lake and later to Baxter in 1988. Following Roys death in 1995, Mae moved to Pillager where she was a resident until her death.

Mae was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Pillager. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, flowers, and bingo. She liked to knit, quilt and crochet. Mae loved her grandchildren.

She will missed by her three daughters, Jeanne (Ron) Johnson, of Pillager, Lois (Don) Christiansen, of New Hope, and Karen (Bill) Cobb, of Blaine; her sister, Ruby Blair, of Grand Forks, ND; her brother, Cliff (Ann) Steenerson, of Seattle, WA; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her great-grandson, Ryan Allen; her parents; and six siblings.
