Mabel Wetherell

Mabel Wetherell, age 96, of Staples passed away September 1, 2013 at Lakewood Care Center. Mabel Dahlvang was born on April 28, 1917 in Oylen, Minnesota. She married Russell Wetherell on September 21, 1941. They farmed in Poplar Township on what was to become a Century Farm. After they retired from dairy farming, they enjoyed traveling each fall and visited most of the lower 48 states. Mabel was an avid reader, enjoyed her grandchildren and playing games with family and friends. In 2005 they moved to Lakewood Pines and later to the Care Center.

Mabel will be missed by daughters Jeanne (Gorden) Hardy of Merrifield and Barbara Wetherell of Harrisonburg, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brett (Elaine) Hardy, Beth (Joe) McGuire, Brian (Stacy) Hardy, Julie (Andrew) Bernstrom and Michael Hardy all of Merrifield and 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Anna (Olson) Dahlvang, husband, Russell; sisters Clara Anderson, Tilda Anderson and Olga Nyberg, brothers Perry, Sam, Roy and Alex Dahlvang.

Services will be held 2pm Friday September 6 at Brenny's in Staples with Pastor Neal Malcore officiating. Interment will be at Poplar Cemetery followed by lunch at the Oylen Christian and Missionary Alliance Camp dining hall.
