Mabel Pedersen

Mabel (Mae) Pedersen, age 96, of Pequot Lakes, passed away May 18, 2013. She was born August 20, 1916, to Anton and Josephine Rolfhus in Steele, North Dakota. When she was two years old the family moved to her grandparents farm in rural Paynesville, MN. There, amid the beauties of nature, she spent her early years. She went to Minneapolis to find employment and worked for many years as a beautician. She married Walter Pedersen in 1960, and in 1969 they moved to a small hobby farm in the Pequot Lakes area. She continued doing beauty work for many years and when she retired they moved into town. Mae was a long-time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and VFW Auxiliary.

Mae was a lover of nature. She was a prim and proper lady who was very intelligent and curious about all aspects of life. She kept up with current events and could discuss almost any topic. She will be greatly missed.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters: Myrtle Rolfhus, Inez Rolfhus, Prudence Anderson; two brothers: Oliver Rolfhus, Kennard Rolfhus; nephew, Ranald; and nieces, Joyce and Lois.

She is survived by nephews: Robert Rolfhus (Kathy), Kenneth Rolfhus (Brenda), Delroy Rolfhus, Robert Huffman, Clifford Huffman; nieces: Phyllis Stewart, Patty Gordon (Brian); and several great nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 PM on Saturday, May 25, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes, with Pastor Donna Olsen officiating. Burial will follow at Our Savior's Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
