Mabel Halvorson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died Friday, May 24, 2013 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Baxter. Memorial Services will be held at a later date at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Vancouver, WA.
Mabel was born to John and Carrie (Worlie) Johnson on December 17, 1920 in Randall. She grew up and attended school in Pequot Lakes. On November 29, 1941, she was united in marriage to Gordon Halvorson. She was a homemaker until her later years when she worked seasonally at several canneries in Vancouver, WA. The shining stars in her life were her family and her church family at St. Andrew's. While in Baxter, Mabel enjoyed Lord of Life Church and look forward to many visits from Pastor Lilja Behr. She belonged to a quilting group and she was never happier than when she was helping at her church. Mabel loved to crochet - her family and those who did anything for her were rewarded with her handiwork. Her homemade bread and meals were given freely with love.
Mable is survived by her children, Carol (Mike) Blowers, of Baxter, Karen (Aaron) Brown, of Vancouver, WA, and Allan (Karen) Halvorson, of Ephrata, WA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Roberts, of Myrtle Creek, OR; sister-in-law, Violet Johnson, of Pine River; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, John Halvorson and Joann Atkinson; and siblings, Raymond Johnson, Ivie West, Lydia Richardson, and Burton Johnson.
