Mabel E. Bahr Bell, 96, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Services will be held at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Rory Swenson officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Bemidji at a later date.
Mabel was born January 27, 1911, the daughter of Peter and Lucy Shoberg in Foreston, MN. She married Roy Bahr on August 8, 1928 in Bemidji, MN where the couple lived for many years before retiring to Brainerd. They had seven children. Roy passed away in 1980. In 1992 she married Reverend Willard Bell of Brainerd. They shared ten years together before his passing in 2002.
She is survived by her children, Don Bahr, of Bemidji, Donna Steddon, of IA, Del (Jan) Bahr, of Brainerd, Joanne Swanson, of Brainerd, Sandra (Don) Bundrant, of Washington, and Gary (Linda) Bahr, of Brooklyn Park; her brothers, Morris (Julie) Shoberg, of International Falls, MN, Wayne Shoberg, and David Shoberg; her sister, Eleanor, of Washington; her stepchildren, David Bell, of Utah, Margaret Thompson, of Texas, Marilyn (Jack) Olwell, of Farmington, MN, Rich (Deb) Bell, Charles Bell, of Brainerd; fifteen grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Roy Bahr and Willard Bell; her daughter Betty; her grandsons Curt Bahr and Rick Swanson; her great-grandson, Robbie Bahr; and her brothers, Jasper, Paul, and Frances.
