Lynette was born on July 6, 1950 to August Carl and Delta Ora (Adolphsen) Kaaz; in a small house on the East end of Echo by a midwife and Doc Hudec. She was baptized and confirmed into the Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Faith at Peace Lutheran Church of Echo. While in school at Echo, she was active in band, choir, journalism, theater, and the local 4-H Club. Lynette is a 1968 graduate of Echo High School. On February 7, 1970, she married Richard Wayne Lausen (of Sacred Heart, MN) at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in the twin cities. The couple had two children; Brett Laine Lausen (Feb. 16, 1971) and Kate Marie Lausen (April 30, 1986). Lynette loved her children beyond words.
Lynette had a great passion for animals; specifically, horses and dogs. She got her first horse in 8th grade when she had finally saved up enough money. Lynette was always happiest when she was in the barn with all her animal friends. Lynette was extremely proud of the farm the couple bought in Michigan, where she raised and rescued horses along with other animals. The Michigan farm was a safe sanctuary for whatever wild animal could make it there. It was a terrible loss to Lynette when the couple had to move and rehome all of the horses. She had a tender spot in her heart for the earth and all living things; it broke her heart watching people destroy the earth. Lynette also enjoyed, arts/crafts, sewing as a seamstress, shooting her Remington 22 rifle and being a licensed DNR Firearm Training Instructor.
Lynette had a variety of career opportunities beginning as a teenager when she worked in the local farmer’s fields and helped her father out in his shop. She worked at the local hardware store, cleaned homes, and did daily chores at home. After Lynette’s marriage to Richard she sold Avon, Rubbermaid, insurance, real-estate, waitressed, and was a bartender. Following, vocational college Lynette worked in property management and eventually started her own property management company in St. Cloud (Preferred Property Services, Inc).
Lynette is survived by her husband, Dick; children, Brett (Jody) Lausen, Kate Lausen; grandchildren, Matthew and Ben; and brother, Darrel (Beverly) Kaaz. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carlyle.
