Lyle Johnson

Lyle Johnson, 79, of Brainerd, died Friday, December 16, 2011 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd with Pastor Rory Swenson officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Interment with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.

Lyle was born December 24, 1931, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Roy and Esther (Christianson) Johnson. Following high school, Lyle enlisted in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Sharon Young. For over 25 years, Lyle worked at a materials handler for Washington Scientific Industry. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities before moving to the Brainerd Lakes Area in June of 2010.

Lyle was a member of Park United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, wood-working, and reading.

He will missed by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Kim (Tim) Pierson, of Blaine; son Donovan (Julie) Johnson, of Brainerd; sisters, Alice Bender, Sharon Johnson, and Helen Headley; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
