Lowell J. Hulett, age 66, of Leader, passed away near his home, on Wednesday, June 13. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 18, at 11:00 AM, at the Motley Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at the church. Burial will be at the Poplar Cemetery.
Lowell was born on September 16, 1945, in Brainerd, MN, to Philip and Hazel Hulett. He attended Leader Country School until 6th grade, then going on to Motley High School, graduating in 1963. He worked at Wadena Silo until he entered the Marine Corps in 1965. Upon returning home from the Marines, Lowell worked at Bjerga's Feed Store and drove school bus. He married Bonnie Lou Disterhaupt on September 11, 1972. He started working spring and fall, at the Badoura Tree Farm in 1986, and joined the National Guard in 1987, retiring in 2003.
Lowell took pleasure in helping neighbors with their cattle & farming, attending his grandsons' activities, and family get-togethers. He also enjoyed reading, horseback riding, and driving adventures.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, April Johnson of Robbinsdale and Tina (Brett) Baumgartner of Hewitt; grandsons, Brady and Blake; sisters, Wilma, Hope, and Monie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gene.
Arrangments have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.
