Lowell Holmberg

March 25, 1942 — June 20, 2005

Lowell Eugene Holmberg was born on March 25, 1942, at Springfield, MN, the son of Thure J. and Ethel (Fox) Holmberg. He was called from this life Monday evening at his home near Motley surrounded by his loving family. He attained the age of 63 years, 2 months and 25 days.
Lowell grew up on the family farm near Lamberton, MN, and attended Lamberton Public School. After his schooling he stayed and helped run the family farm until 1969 when he purchased his farm near Motley. In addition to farming he took a job working for Bjerga Feeds. On August 28, 1971, he was united in marriage to Darlene Heck in Beardsley, MN. To this union 5 children were born. Lowell and Darlene were able to share over 33 years of marriage. In 1979 he quit Bjerga Feeds and went to work as a custodial engineer at the Motley Public Schools. Between a full time job at school and farming Lowell did not have much spare time, but when he did he enjoyed being with his family especially his grandchildren. Lowell loved life and enjoyed playing an occasional practical joke. April 1st was one of his favorite days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thure J. and Ethel; and a brother, Armin. Lowell is mourned in passing by his wife of 33 years, Darlene; children, Eugene Holmberg of Motley, Lavonne (Jason) Hinrichs of Pillager, Karen (David) Tetlie of Motley, Kyle (Jennie) Holmberg of Fairbault, and LeAnn Holmberg of Motley; 3 grandchildren, Hailey and Jaycie Hinrichs and Samantha Holmberg; brothers, Dale (Evelyn) Holmberg of Motley and Darrell (Jeannie) Holmberg of Lamberton; and sister-in-law Lyla Holmberg of Motley.
