Lowell Englert, 76, of Pequot Lakes, MN died Friday, March 11, 2016 at Senior Class Care in Pequot Lakes, MN. Services for Lowell will be 2:00PM, Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake, MN with Pastor Leslie Uhrinak officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be 10:00AM, Friday, March 18, 2016 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN.
Lowell was born September 21, 1939 in St. Paul, MN to Otto and Ella (Goetzke) Englert. He graduated from Sibley High School in West St. Paul, MN. Lowell worked for McKee in Eagan, MN. He then entered the US Air Force, but was called home due to his father's illness. Lowell was united in marriage to Julie Bergman on June 23, 1990 in Eagan, MN. He worked for Yellow Freight until retiring in 2000. Lowell had a cabin in Breezy Point from 1986-2000. In 2006, they moved to Pequot Lakes. Lowell enjoyed hunting, yard work, boating, outdoor activities, racing cars, gardening for his mother, and ushering at church both in Eagan and Crosslake. He was also very avid with his horses, winning many ribbons at the state fairs.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Julie; uncle, Haldor Goetzke; aunt Dorothy Englert; cousins; and his dog, Rufus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Ella Englert. Memorials are preferred to Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
