Louise Nygard

Louise M. Nygard, 97, of Brainerd died on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd, MN. A Memorial Service for Louise is planned for Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Edgewood Vista with Pastor Kristin Oltmann at 12:30 PM with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment at Evergreen Memorial.

Louise was born on January 21, 1916 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Erick and Margaret (Nygren) Matson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and was united into marriage to Erick Nygard on March 16, 1935 in Hudson, WI. Louise spent most of her life caring for her daughter, Karen who was born with celebral palsy in 1939. She and Erick moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area in 1959. Louise enjoyed music, playing the organ, and quilting. She also loved being a Courage Center and Camp Confidence volunteer.

Louise is survived by her children, Glen (Cari) of Brainerd, MN and Janet (Howard) Gould of Lino Lakes, MN; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Lombardo of Ormand Beach, FL; and a niece, Linda Goodrich. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erick; daughter, Karen; and a granddaughter, Marsha Lynn Nygard. Memorials are preferred to Edgewood Vista.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
