Louis Kramer

November 6, 1922 — February 18, 2009

Louis L. Kramer, age 86, of Pequot Lakes and formerly Faribault, passed away peacefully at the St. Cloud Hospital with his family by his side on February 18, 2009. He was born November 6, 1924 in Fort Ripley, MN. He graduated from Milroy High School in 1942 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Cloud State University, and his Master's degree from Western Michigan University.
Louis was a long time resident of Faribault, MN, where he served as Houseparent, Teacher, Coach, and Principal of the Minnesota State Academy of the Blind. Louis is a past Commander of American Legion Post 43, past President Post 43 Drum and Bugle Corp, Secretary of the 3rd District American Legion, past Grand Chef-de-Gare of Post 43, 40 and 8, past Grand Knight of Faribault Knights of Columbus, Scout Master for Immaculate Conception and Braille School Boy Scout Troops. Louis was also active in many other community projects.
As a result of failing health, Louis and Hazel moved to Pine River. For the past year Louis has lived at the Heritage House in Pequot Lakes.
Louis is survived by his wife, Hazel; sons: Michael (Anita), Gordon (Carol); daughters: Charlotte Christensen (Larry Thienes), Kristan Campbell (John); daughter-in-law, Sally; sister, Betty Caughey (Norman); grandchildren: Katie Goodwin (Chris), Jeff Campbell (Laura), Brittany Campbell, Peter Kramer, Ashley Christensen, Lukas Kramer, Erica Christensen, Michael Kramer; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, son, Bruce, son-in-law, Mark Christensen and grandson, Jonathon Kramer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River, with Father Bruce Engen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be 2 PM at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
