Lorraine A. Scherer, 89, resident of Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd, passed away on September 10, 2008. Memorial services will be Saturday, September 27, at 1:30 pm, at the Woodland Good Samaritan Village Chapel, 100 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd.
Lorraine was born in Westbrook, Minnesota on September 17, 1918, the daughter of Tina Amundson Arneson and Doctor T.J. Arneson. She graduated from West High School in Minneapolis, and attended St. Olaf College in Northfield for two years. She was married and had a daughter, Joan Brenner. Lorraine loved animals all her life, and studied wild wolves, took pictures of many of them, and wrote a great deal about them. She loved nature, and became a world authority on wild wolves.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her mother, Tina Amundson Arneson; her father, Dr. T.J. Arneson; her brothers, Leslie Arneson, of Minneapolis and Harold Arneson, of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida; her sisters, Dr. Harriet DeVere of Morgantown, North Carolina and Donna Skaro, of Gaylord. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Brenner, of Brainerd; a sister, Alice Ohnesorge, of Minneapolis; and a brother, T.J. (Ted) Arneson, Jr., of Minneapolis. She is also survived by two grandsons, Wayne Lenius, of Madison, Wisconsin with three daughters, Andrea, Victoria, and Molly; and grandson David Lenius, of Minneapolis, with one son, Tiernan, and daughters Tacy and Jocelyn; as well as many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was a caring person with a good sense of humor; a great naturalist and writer; and a wonderful mother.
